Create a Service

Do you have an idea for a new service which could be eventually added to Boostpost? Here are some tips to help you get started:

Avoid reinventing the wheel

Cater to a niche

The world already has many, many general purpose news aggregators. But where do Zombie-fans get their news? Granted, creating a niche site may not appeal to the masses, but over time you may be surprised how many people want to be a part of your niche.

The button is the key

If you dress up one part of your site, make it your button. An appealing button will draw clicks on Boostpost. Period. At the same time, please remember this is an "all ages" site, so buttons with inappropriate subject matter/imagery will not be included.

Easy of use

Don't pop up a credentials window the moment someone clicks on your rank button...that's just a poor design. It tells a prospective audience "go away". Make it easy to integrate your button in Boostpost (see Avoid reinventing the wheel) and once someone clicks on your button, ensure your site is an inviting place for them to either increment the rank of the URL, or add it to your site if it is not already there.

Performance

Your button, once in Boostpost, may be shown hundreds, thousands, or even millions of times each day. Your site must be able to perform at the required level of displaying your button within 5 seconds. You will be warned if your site's performance is not sufficient, and dropped from Boostpost if you fail to fix things.

Remember, no guarantees!

Setting up a new service and even getting listed in Boostpost is a guarantee of absolutely nothing! There is no guarantee people will add sites to your service or rank with you. Be patient, and over time if your site is decent, things should improve.
